CORAL SPRINGS, FL – TAPinto is pleased to announce that long-time journalist Leon Fooksman has franchised TAPinto Coral Springs.

Fooksman spent 15 years in the newsrooms of four daily newspapers in Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland, covering government, education, politics, courts, and law enforcement.

A graduate of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and a fluent Russian speaker, he previously worked at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, where he was a beat reporter for nine years.

After leaving journalism in 2008, Fooksman created a Coral Springs-based marketing consulting firm, Digital Storyline, specializing in helping nonprofits tell their unique stories on websites and social media as well as in e-newsletters and videos. He’s worked with nearly 100 agencies from Miami to West Palm Beach.

While building his business, Fooksman completed Leadership Broward and Leadership Palm Beach County and wrote the book, “A Tradition of Caring: A History of Medicine in Palm Beach County.”

Fooksman became a TAPinto franchisee because he wants to be a part of new journalism ventures taking shape in communities across the nation.

“I was looking for an opportunity to combine my journalism skills with my entrepreneurial expertise, and TAPinto is the way to do it,” Fooksman said. “It’s so exciting to be back in daily journalism.”

He selected Coral Springs as the community to launch his franchise. His family lived in Coral Springs for 12 years before moving to Parkland in 2014.

“I love the vibrancy and diversity of Coral Springs. It’s also a special and meaningful place for my wife and I since our two sons were born there,” he said. “I look forward to covering the community and telling the stories of the people living there and the issues important to them.”

Fooksman is married to Leanne, a physical therapist. Their oldest son, Ari, attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and their youngest son, Josh, goes to Westglades Middle School in Parkland.
