CORAL SPRINGS, FL- People in Parkland, Coral Springs and surrounding cities have teamed up to help rescue animals through Wonder Paws Rescue.

The nonprofit animal rescue was founded with the purpose of helping families with animals in crisis and animals in need of rescue. According to the website, "Wonder Paws Rescue will provide temporary housing, medical care and rehabilitation for neglected animals in our community, with the ultimate goal of finding them permanent, safe and loving homes."

Local community members have stepped in to provide a loving home as these animals await their forever homes.

Luana is a mixed breed dog that came to Wonder Paws Rescue very ill and underweight. Within two months of living in a loving foster home, Luana is healthy and ready for adoption.

"Wonder Paws Rescue is unlike any other rescue I know, in that they find dogs that might not be easily adopted due to medical or behavioral issues. Once in their care, these dogs get the medical attention they need. I’m currently fostering a sweet girl who’s now available for adoption. I absolutely LOVE this organization and their dedication to saving lives of dogs in need," said foster parent Michelle Wolfe of Coconut Creek.

Parkland resident Pam Scopino and her family have been fostering dogs for the past 2 years. Fostering has been a rewarding experience for her family.

"It’s very emotional when your foster is adopted, 'giving them up' to their new family. Yes, you get attached, but then you realize what you did for that pup, taking him out of a bad situation-whether it being a stray, abused and neglected, shelter dog or owner surrender- and gave them a new chance at life. The reward and experience has been life changing for me and my family. When you meet a family, and they take their new furry friend home, with such joy and happiness, it warms my heart," Scopino said.

While fostering dogs through Wonder Paws Rescue, the Scopino family met their next family member. Their now-beloved dog, Maximus, ended up being a "foster fail." They fell in love with Maximus while fostering him and moved to adopt him into their family forever.

"Not only is he beautiful, but he has brought such joy to our family, we cannot imagine our home without him. He is loyal, protective, and fiercely loving," said Scopino.

Wonder Paws Rescue has had great success rescuing neglected animals and placing them in loving homes. They have successfully adopted out close to 300 animals in its first year of operation.  Wonder Paws relies on its volunteers, foster parents and donations to successfully give neglected animals a second chance at a loving home.

"Fostering at Wonder Paws has been a great experience. So many people ask how do you foster and then let them go? I know by fostering I am saving a dog and with rescue I get to meet the adopter and keep in touch with them and see the babies grow up. I have had so many happy tails and when a dog or puppy finds its right fit, then it makes it all worth it," shared Coral Springs resident and Wonder Paws volunteer Holly Van Tassel-Schuster, who has fostered eight animals and counting.

TAPinto Parkland and TAPinto Coral Springs are teaming up with Wonder Paws Rescue to showcase adoptable animals weekly to help them find their forever home.

"Some people prefer to shop for their pets- they think that rescue dogs are 'not perfect.' but our foster fail from Wonder Paws is our everything. When you adopt a rescue pet, you know in your heart you are helping and loving them, and believe me, they give it ALL back, and then some, in return," summarized Scopino.
