CORAL SPRINGS, FL – This week’s Love Together event – a celebration of Alyssa Alhadeff and her memory in a benefit to Make Our Schools Safe – raised $1,474 for the organization.

MakeATeeOnLine in Coral Springs, in conjunction with Gildan Apparel, helped promote the event on April 10 during which kids and adults from all over the country were encouraged to wear a T-shirt designed by New York City Artist Jessie Rubin and take pictures of their hands in the shape of a heart.

Gildan Apparel supplied 1,000 T-shirts for all the Make Our Schools Safe fundraisers for the coming year.

Meryl Katlin, owner of MakeATeeOnLine, said “heart hands” is one of the symbols of Make Our Schools Safe, and Alyssa Alhadeff, who was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, loved to have pictures taken of her making her hands into the heart shape.

Rubin, the artist, took one of the photos of Alyssa at the beach with the sun shining through her hands and made it into a beautiful painting that was used in the event to celebrate Alyssa, Katlin said.

“We took that pic and created Love Together to symbolize Alyssa's love and the knowledge that Make Our Schools Safe needs everyone to be together to make the mission happen,” Katlin said. “Love Together was a beautiful way to acknowledge and thank everyone for their love and support.”
