CORAL SPRINGS, FL – When the empty Coral Springs Financial Plaza is razed, the process will take 10 weeks.
There’s still no clear date on the start of demolishing the 10-story, 213,000-square-foot building on the corner of University Drive and Sample Road.
Replacing the building will be a block-wide complex of 352 luxury apartments, 125 hotel rooms, eight restaurants/pubs, entertainment/athletic-related businesses, and roughly 200,000-square-feet of new office space.
In updating the project last week, Julie Krolak, of the city’s development services department, said the building is planned for coming down before the end of the year.
“It will be a 10-week process to demo the building,” she said.
Plans for the complex have already been approved by the city, Krolak said.
Earlier this summer, the developer of Cornerstone -- Rod Sheldon of Boca Raton-based Predesco Property Investments -- said a big chunk of commercial space has been signed by a medical company.
Sheldon also said the demolition of the building will use a method that won’t result in considerable dust.
