CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Non-essential businesses were required to close on Friday, but barbershops and beauty salons were allowed to stay open.

Across Coral Springs on Saturday, some salons accepted customers while many other kinds of businesses remained closed under orders from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Kristi Bartlett, economic development director at City of Coral Springs, offered in a news release some guidelines to follow for businesses that remain opened -- including salons.

She said:

  • If your establishment can hold more than 10 people, maintain a limit of 10 individuals at once in the area. For example, salons can stagger appointments and space chairs by a minimum of six feet between clients.
  • Practice social distancing, wash hands frequently and provide hand sanitizer to your patrons and staff.
  • Overall, use common sense in your business operations.
