CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Singing the school song at Westchester Elementary School started as a stay-at-home music project a few weeks ago.

Dozens of students and staff at the Coral Springs school sang lines and contributed to the chorus of voices in the song, “The Future of Today,” which was turned into a two-and-a-half-minute video recorded in their living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms on home computers, phones, and other devices.

But, in the midst of the school’s shutdown, the song became a lot more than a school assignment, Claudia Lusararian, the school’s music teacher, explained on a YouTube page.

“It grew into a project that gave us a sense of comfort and unity by singing together while being apart,” Lusararian wrote on the page.
