CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Coral Springs organizers of the 14th Annual Teen Political Forum planned virtually on Monday evening have postponed the event due to the protests related to the death of George Floyd.

In explaining the decision to postpone, city government officials said on the city website:

“These are trying times in our nation and in our community. The right to protest and have our voices heard is one of the greatest freedoms we as a nation are afforded.

Due to the planned protests honoring George Floyd and to condemn police brutality, we have decided to postpone our Teen Political Forum (TPF) scheduled for June 1st at 7 p.m.

The voices, and opinions of our young adults, which have been shared over the last 14 years at TPF, is something we are incredibly proud to support and will continue to do so in the future.”

At the event, local students were to address county and local elected officials and ask questions that are important to them.

The new date for the event has not been announced yet.
