We hope everyone has had a great start to the New Year!
There many events taking place throughout the month of February like outdoor concerts, festivals and fitness opportunities.
Are you looking for a fun way to meet your fitness goals while meeting new friends? Check out Sunset Yoga at the ArtWalk in Downtown Coral Springs every Saturday evening from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Sponsored by the City of Coral Springs CRA, this free Yoga class is taught by Juliana Trejo from Yoga 4 Life Studios West. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Registration is not required, but participants must complete a waiver.
This month marks the second anniversary of the tragedy that forever changed the fabric of our community. It is important to reflect, remember and take time to honor the lives lost to violence at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Regardless of what you plan to do on February 14, we ask that you take a moment out of your day to do something positive to promote hope, encouragement and healing.
Our final two public art installations from The Power of Art series will be unveiled on February 14th. The first is Big Picture: Resilience, by award-winning photojournalist for the Miami Herald, Carl Juste. He and his team led workshops exploring the use of photojournalism as a form of self-expression about healing, resiliency, bearing witness and capturing history. The photos will be on display from February 14 until the end of May, along with audio. Peace & Love by artists Rosario Marquardt and Roberto Behar of R&R Studios will formally open to visitors at the corner of Sample Road and Sportsplex Drive in Coral Springs at 3 p.m. on the 14th. The artists worked with the community to create a “social sculpture” as a beacon of compassion and care for our community. The billboard will remain on-site through May 2020. To learn more about the public art installations, funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, visit poweroa.org.
