CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Heads up, Coral Springs residents: The people knocking on your door in the coming weeks may not be delivery drivers or your neighbors – they could be 2020 U.S. Census takers.

The census workers are now going door-to-door in Coral Springs and across the country to reach those who haven’t yet filled out the forms including people of color, immigrants, renters, and others who historically are less likely to complete the census on their own.

The deadline for the constitutionally mandated count of every person living in the U.S. is Sept. 30.

Coral Springs is nearing a 70 percent census completion rate out of about 40,000 households, Coral Springs City Manager Frank Babinec said.

The goal is to reach 80 percent, he said.

If you haven't taken the census, it only takes about 10 minutes to complete.
