CORAL SPRINGS, FL - Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine issued an update Monday regarding the opening of limited recreational activities as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

His update is based on steps Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties are jointly taking together in four areas, which will go into effect Wednesday.

Details for Broward County will be included in the county administrator’s emergency order, which will be released Tuesday. The highlights include:

1) Select Broward County regional parks, specialty parks, neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas, will open for passive use, including walking, running and jogging.
2) Park buildings, fitness equipment, campgrounds, basketball courts and other shared spaces will remain closed to the public.
3) Also, parks that currently being used for test collections and food distribution will remain closed to recreational activity.
4) Social distancing must be observed at all times.
5) Check for the list of parks that will be open, and hours.
6) Weekend and holiday gate entrance fees are temporarily suspended.

Golf Courses

1) Golf courses may open with limited hours, governed by the municipality; driving ranges remain closed.
2) No caddies; only one player per cart unless golfers reside in the same household.
3) Social distancing must be observed at all times.
4) Other restrictions also apply.

Boat Ramps/Marinas

1) All public and private boating ramps, piers and marinas may open with limited hours, governed by the municipality.
2) Only one boat on the ramp at a time.
3) No tying, rafting, beaching or landing allowed.
4) Social distancing must be observed at all times while loading, unloading and at fish cleaning stations.


1) Pools in multi-family housing developments including condos may open for use by residents of the community only.
2) Pool maintenance staff must sanitize pool chairs, railings, gates, and other equipment after each use.

3) Social distancing must be observed at all times.

4) Facial coverings must be worn by residents traveling to and from the pool area in confined spaces, such as hallways and elevators.
