CORAL SPRINGS, FL – The free Covid-19 testing site at Mullins Park will be closing next month due to the declining demand for testing.
Those wanting to get free coronavirus testing in Coral Springs can still visit the site in the parking lot of Florida Panthers IceDen at 3299 Sportsplex Drive.
Coral Springs City Manager Frank Babinec said Wednesday that the site at Mullins Park -- run by the Florida Department of Health -- will close on May 14 after almost a year of operation.
“There’s availability for testing elsewhere and there’s less demand for it,” Babinec said.
Babinec credited his city staff in working with state health officials in helping to open the site and keep it going.
At one point, the site was testing close to 1,000 people a day, officials have said.
“It was a collaborative effort by so many people to make that site so successful,” he said.
