CORAL SPRINGS, FL- Last month, a 49-year-old Coral Springs man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a girl for five years.

Now, the girl’s 37-year-old mother is also behind bars for allegedly coercing her daughter to recant the allegations against the man -- Earen Huings -- who is accused of sexually abused her in hopes the charges against him could be dropped, a police report said.

Amanda Walkes faces three charges -- including child neglect with great bodily harm -- for using “intimidation, pressure and threats” against her daughter to “have her falsely recant her sworn statement” against Huings who is Walkes’s boyfriend and had lived with Walkes and her daughter, the report said.

Huings faces 16 charges for sexual assault, lewd and lascivious molestation, and other charges for allegedly sexually abusing Walkes’s daughter from 2017 to 2022 in her Coral Springs home and other places across Broward County.

The girl told police that Huings impregnated her in 2019 and then terminated the pregnancy, the report said.

Walkes denied the allegations, the report said.**BULLSEYE

According to a police report, Walkes took instruction from Huings, who has been incarcerated at Broward County Jail since his arrest in December, on how to get her daughter to drop the charges against him.

Huings told Walkes to have the girl make a video saying she was lying about Huings’s sexual abuse, take it to Broward County Public Defender’s Office and “do what she had to do,” the report said.

Walkes told her daughter that if she didn’t recant the allegations against Huings, she could be taken away by child welfare workers and forced to live in foster care.**STANDARD

The girl went to Coral Springs police on Jan. 9 to change her story, but police learned from another family member that the girl was pressured by her mother and Huings to lie to police that the abuse never happened, the report said.

According to the report, Walkes made it possible for Huings to talk to the girl on how to handle herself with authorities – even though Huings wasn’t allowed to make contact with the girl.

In Walkes’s arrest report, police also details how Walkes had “disregard” toward her daughter’s mental and physical health while Huings allegedly sexually abused her for years.**BULLSEYE

She “failed to have a custodial or parental urgency to discover the truth or assist detectives in the investigation against Huings,” the report said.

For instance, the report said Walkes made police interviews with her daughter “difficult to complete and did not put the victim’s well-being or safety” as a “high priority.”

When investigators contacted Walkes to reveal evidence of Huings sexually abusing her daughter, she told police she “busy doing things” and “showed no interest in protecting” her daughter.

During the police investigation, detectives learned that Florida Department of Children and Families investigated Walkes as well, but DCF documents show that Walkes didn’t believe her daughter’s account that she was sexually abused by Huings and kept her daughter in the home with Huings “to be revictimized year after year,” according to the arrest report.

Walkes was arrested on Jan. 11, and faces child neglect with great bodily harm, tampering with a witness, and criminal attempt charges.

She remained Saturday in jail with no bond on the tampering charge, and a $25,000 bond for the child neglect charge and a $25,000 bond for the criminal attempt charge, according to court records.

Huings remained in jail, too, with no bond on most of his charges, records show.
