CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Police closed the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and University Drive on Monday morning as part of their investigation into determining what caused an accident there on July 4 that left two people dead and two injured, police said.

The intersection was expected to be shut down in all directions for several hours as traffic homicide investigators pieced together witness accounts and other information from the five-car crash on Saturday at around 5:40 pm.

Anthony Adolino, 89, and Anne Adolino, 86, of Margate, died in the accident and two other people were taken as trauma patients to Broward Health North. An update on their condition was not available.

Police had no further updates on Monday on what led to the collision.
