CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Last week, a 44-year-old man allegedly walked into a Coral Springs Walmart store, stuffed a suitcase with merchandise, and then walked out with the bag without paying for it, a police report said.
When police arrested Kenneth Rozier moments later, he told them why he stole $843 worth of beauty items, clothing, and other things on Friday: he planned to sell everything on the street, the report said.
Rozier, of Lauderdale Lakes, faces a retail theft charge as well as an obstructing officer without violence charge after running away from the police when he left Walmart.
Employees at the store at 3801 Turtle Creek Drive first spotted Rozier taking items from the shelves in the health and beauty section and then in the houseware department, the report said.
He eventually picked up a suitcase and stuffed it with the items he had already picked up as well as socks, underwear, and other clothing from the men’s department.
With a packed suitcase at his side, Rozier walked out without paying, the report said. As police were called out, he took off running until officers stopped him.
He remained Wednesday at the Broward County Jail on a $1,000 bond for the theft charge and no bond for the obstruction charge. He was also held on warrants for charges including cocaine possession and resisting a police officer.
