6 Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Named USATF Junior Olympic Athletes of the Year


Six athletes from the Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club were honored by the USA Track & Field New Jersey Association as Junior Olympic Athletes of the Year and Youth Chair recipients. The awards were presented on Jan. 21, at the annual awards gala at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ. These awards are presented annually to athletes who have excelled at the State, Regional and National Junior Olympics.                   

The six athletes that won the awards are:

Ages 9-10 Girls Division- Race Walker of the Year              Elizabeth Koizumi

Ages 9-10 Boys Division –Distance Runner of the Year       Eamon Mason

Ages 11-12 Girls Division – Youth Chair- Hurdles               Alexandra Bonn

Ages 13-14 Boys Division – Race Walker of the Year           Paul Koizumi

Ages 13-14 Girls Division – Race Walker of the Year:          Grace Endy

Ages 17-18 Girls Division – Race Walker of the Year:          Melissa Endy

In addition to the above awards, Melissa Endy finished third in the Women’s Race Walk Grand Prix for the State of New Jersey.
