KENILWORTH, NJ - The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company announced on an updated website, that the Kenilworth A&P store will be sold to Acme Markets Inc. as part of a bankruptcy asset purchase. The fate of the Kenilworth Boulevard location had been uncertain as details regarding the 156-year-old grocery chain's demise unfolded.
While 25 of the company's stores will close completely, others were sold to Acme Markets Inc, Ahold Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. or Key Food Stores Co-operative Inc. Visit www.apteanotice.com/faq for each location's disposition.
Acme Markets has a 124-year history in the local landscape and currently operates 107 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. It is one of the Albertsons Companies, a large food and drug retailer that operates more than 2200 stores in 33 states.
