WESTFIELD, NJ — Addams Tavern, which is undergoing court-ordered renovations, may re-open in September, according to Chip Grabowski, CEO of Harvest Restaurant Group. The restaurant at 115 Elm St. has been closed since December. Recently, firefighters extinguished a minor fire on one of the building's terraces.

“We are really hoping to re-open by the end of September,” Grabowski said.

“I have to tell you, though,” Grabowski said, “Out of all the communities we’re in, Westfield has been incredible.”

A note posted on the restaurant’s door thanks supporters for their loyalty and encouragement.

“Your compassion and understanding during this challenging time has been invaluable to us. Many of you have graciously visited our other venues during this time and for that, we are especially grateful,” the sign reads. “We are grateful to the town of Westfield and the community for your ongoing support throughout this process. And finally, to our wonderful Addams Tavern employees — we can’t thank you enough for your patience and fortitude. We look forward to this grand re-opening with you and beside you every step of the way.”

While the exact date of re-opening is unclear, renovations are fully underway and continue to progress according to plans, according to Harvest Restaurant Group.
