CRANFORD - Congratulations to this week's Cranford High School Athlete of the Week, Catherine Blowe.

Blowe, a senior on the girls gymnastics team, took first place on bars (9.3) at the Union County Championships on Friday at Cranford High School. Cranford took third place with a score of 103.3.

"I started off good with the season but I hit a little bump in the road when I hurt my ankle," said Blowe. "I was only able to do bars at Counties, which was a little disappointing, but I won, which was nice. I was a little disappointed I wasn't able to do the all-around."

Gymnastics isn't a sport Blowe decided to join when she reached high school. She mentioned that she has been taking classes since she was three or four years old. Being in her senior year, Blowe said she has a few goals to accomplish before the season ends.

"I hope that as a team we improve on the little details and corrections we've been making for Sectionals," Blowe said. "For me personally, I hope that I can qualify for the individual States competition."
