CRANFORD, NJ - In his recent letter to the editor (“Congressman Lance Should Fund Homeland Security," February 24, 2015), Cranford’s Brian Anderson mistakenly suggests that Congressman Leonard Lance is opposing efforts to fund our Nation’s homeland security.
To the contrary, Congressman Lance voted more than three weeks ago to fund the Department of Homeland Security and stop President Obama’s unilateral action on immigration that a recent federal judge has ruled to be unlawful.
It is the U.S. Senate, led by its Democratic leader Harry Reid, that has put our homeland security at risk by refusing to debate the spending measure. Senate Democrats have blocked consideration of the Homeland Security spending bill four times since the new 114th Congress convened in January of this year.
Mr. Anderson should urge our U.S. Senators Menendez and Booker to end the Democratic-led filibuster and enact the House-passed Homeland Security spending measure.
All the best,
Chief of Staff
Rep. Leonard Lance
