WESTFIELD, NJ – It’s been a tough, rainy start to the season for the Cranford boys varsity baseball team (0-2), which fell to the Westfield Blue Devils, 7-3, in today’s game at Edison School.

Westfield took an early lead with a score of 4-0 until the fourth inning, when Cranford appeared to tighten the gap with two runs. Westfield came back strong, scoring one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth.

Cranford students Ryan Bakie, Brian Oblachinski and Patrick Conelly claimed one run each for the Cougars. The game had been scheduled for April 4, but was postponed due to weather.

The Cougars are back in action on Monday at 2 p.m. at Orange Avenue School.
