CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford Girl Scout Brownie Troop 40836 raised more than $1,000 during last spring’s Girl Scout Cookies sale.
The scouts used the proceeds to purchase items for mothers and children from Raphael’s Life House, a transitional housing program for pregnant and parenting young women in Elizabeth.
To find out which items were needed, the troop contacted Raphael’s Life House and requested a wish list. They went to target with their parents to purchase the items on the lift.
“The girls left Target not only with a cart full of items for these mothers and their children, but with a great lesson on fulfilling the Girls Scout Promise of ‘helping people at all times,’” Alex Paulyson, media relations for the girl scouts, said.
The brownies are all in second or third grade at Cranford schools.
