CRANFORD, NJ - Congratulations to this week’s athletes of the week Christina Barlik and Chris Librera.

Barlik, a senior on the winter track team won the Union County Championship in the shot put with a school record of 37’ 5”.

An all-around athlete, Barlik has played soccer, basketball and softball but it’s the idea of shot put being unlike any of these sports that Barlik loves. “It’s different from anything else I’ve done, I love it”

“Winning the title was a surreal moment for me, I was amazed I did, it was awesome,” Said Barlik of her championship win.

In her free time, she enjoys hanging with family and friend and making sure her academic grades are good.

To date, no college decisions have been made but Barlik will compete at the college-level where she will major in special/elementary education.

Librera, a senior on the varsity basketball team scored 22 points with 12 rebounds in the Cougars victory over Hightstown this past weekend.

For Librera basketball is about the fast pace of the game and the team bonding that occurs. “It’s fun to play,” said Librera.

The senior is also a member of the varsity baseball team and will continue his baseball career at Brookdale Community College in the fall.

When asked what he was looking forward to Librera said, “Baseball season.”

He too likes to hang out with family and friends in his free time.
