CRANFORD, NJ – Congratulations to this week’s athletes of the week, senior soccer player Maddie Hart and senior cross-country runner Sean O’Donnell.
Hart has been the anchor of the midfield and the leader of the team throughout the entire season. This past week she scored the game winning goal against Chatham and had two assists against Mendham to advance the team to the semifinal round of the state tournament.
Hart will continue her soccer career at Loyola University in Maryland, Hart said, “I am looking forward to playing soccer 24/7 and building comradery with the team.” When asked what she will miss about her high-school team, Hart commented, “I will miss the pasta parties, the whole team being around you and supporting you, I see them every day in school and on the weekends. It will be different, but we are a close group of girls.” When she’s not on the field Hart enjoys spending time with her friends and she enjoys reading, her favorite book is “Fever 1793.” She has an interest in pursuing a career in medicine.
O’Donnell helped lead the boys cross-country team to a sixth place overall finish at the Central Jersey, Group 2, State Sectional Championships, with a personal best of 17:34 over the 5K course.
