CRANFORD, NJ - Two Cranford High School senior wrestlers, Chris Scorese and Tom DiGiovanni, will represent the school at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Annual Scholar Athlete Awards Program.

The awards are given to students who have achieved outstanding honors in both athletics and academics. The two young men were selected by a board of coaches.

“It is great to have these young men recognized for their overall athletic and educational accolades,” wrestling coach Pat Gorman said. “Both Chris and Tom were senior captains that helped lead this year’s team to one of, if not the best, season in school history.”

DiGiovanni placed sixth in the state in 2017, and Scorese placed seventh. Following graduation, Scorese will head to Columbia University and DiGiovanni will attend the University of Pennsylvania.

“These two are both heading to Ivy league schools to continue their wrestling careers, and that is a great testament to this wrestling program and the Cranford School system,” Gorman said.
