CRANFORD, NJ - Yesterday the Cranford High School Girls Cross Country team competed at the Central Jersey Group 2 State Sectional Championship at Thompson Park in Jamesburg, NJ. The team placed second overall to advance to the next round for the first time since 2012. Their times were also a cumulative team high since 2003.

The 3.2 mile course ran through a park landscape. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following team members including their course times:

Amanda Bush 20:27 (15th place overall)
Julia Kelly 20:32 (18th overall)
Lindsay Aschmies 20:33 (20th overall)
Alannah Clarke 20:55 (27th overall)
Bella DeSimone 21:00 (28th overall)
Megan Power 21:39 (47th overall)
Lauren Byrne 22:16 (56th overall)

Cranford's Coach Schiano commented, "It was a true team effort as they beat several schools that were ranked top in the state."

The girls will compete again next Saturday, Nov. 14, at the NJ State Chamionship in Holmdel Park.
