CRANFORD, NJ – Entering her 18th season as head coach of Cranford gymnastics, Michele Charney-Hulse has a young team, including eight freshmen, and will look to her experienced players to lead by example. One of those girls will be team captain, senior Lauren Costa.

Coming off of a 6-2 record last year, Charney-Hulse expects this year’s team to be very competitive, she said, “We are a strong team with depth so I am expecting all of the girls to compete.” Staying healthy will be a key component to the team’s success, Charney-Hulse commented, “The girls tend to come in with more chronic conditions, so staying healthy is always a challenge.”

To accomplish this, Charney-Hulse will look to have strong performances from Erin Infante, Gabby Markese, Bee Iosso and Kelly McAuliffe. Also contributing will be Delaney Sciascia, Taylor Grant, Hanna Capone, Sasha Knapp, Jen Kosty, Maddie Larrabie and Kerry Pollock.

The team opens the season on Thursday, Sept. 10, 4:00 p.m., at home against Union Catholic.
