CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford High School Athletic Director Darren Torsone held a pizza party and ceremony Friday for the 19 CHS senior athletes who will continue to play sports at the collegiate level.

The student athletes play football, swim, wrestle, or play softball, lacrosse, baseball or volleyball. They will be going on to college to further their athletic careers.

“We are definitely proud of all of our student athletes who will be going on to play at the collegiate level,” Torsone said. “It’s not an easy thing to do and we’re very confident that they will continue on to do the same things at the collegiate level that they did in high school.”

Two of those students, Christopher Scorese and Thomas DiGiovanni, will continue wrestling at Ivy League schools.

“There’s a lot of nerves going in, but I’m excited to prove a lot and just grind,” DiGiovanni, who will attend University of Pennsylvania, said.

Scorese will wrestle at Columbia University.

“Cranford definitely had a really good program here for wrestling, so I feel like I’m prepared enough to go to college,” Scorese said.

Lauren Byrne and Isabella DeSimone will continue to swim at college. Byrne will attend the University of Scranton.

“I’m so excited to swim at the collegiate level,” Byrne said.

DeSimone will attend Niagara University.
