Cranford High School's Ryan Bakie Signs with Bryant University

CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford High School senior Ryan Bakie participated in National Signing Day 2017 Wednesday Feb. 1, when he signed his letter of intent in front of family, friends, coaches and administrators.

Bakie, a varsity player on the football, basketball and baseball teams will take his football talent to Bryant University in the fall.

Football has been a part of his life since he was very small and has always been his passion, “I always envisioned myself playing football after high-school, I like baseball and basketball, but it’s all about football,” said Bakie.

A desire for a smaller school, a strong business program and a close proximity to Cranford led Bakie to Bryant. “They have a great business program and it will be nice to be able to get home on a long weekend.”

The Bryant coach’s dedication and direction of the team also grabbed Bakie’s attention, “I look forward to playing there, the coaches are very dedicated and the team is focused on a high-paced offense.”

“I will be playing at the wide receiver position and I hope to contribute to the team,” said Bakie.

When asked what it is he’s looking forward to Bakie simply said, “Winning.”

Moving on from the halls of Cranford High-School will be a big transition for the senior, “I’m going from a place where I know just about every face I see, to only recognizing a few. I will definitely miss my friends,” said Bakie.

Cougar football will always be close to his heart, “ I’ve always been a Cranford Cougar and I always will be a Cranford Cougar, it’s in my blood.”

Spring Art Show Displays Students' Creativity

CRANFORD - The Cranford High School Spring Art Show was held at the Cranford Public Library, on Tuesday. 

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., artwork from classes such as crafts, graphic design, photography, and drawing was on display for the public to promote the creative and unique projects done by students throughout the school year.
