CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford PAL Central Jersey wrestling defeated previously unbeaten and perennial powerhouse South Plainfield, 40-37, in front of a large crowd that included; the high-school and middle-school teams, Thursday in Cranford.

The Cougars finished its season undefeated at 16-0, to capture first-place.

In a match where every bout and point counted Cranford scored big pins from Ryder Connors, Michael Daly, Luke Scholz and Shane Kanterman and received key wins in tight 2-1 bouts from Joey Tona and Mason Hooey.

Cranford also earned key points in wins by Braeden Waters and Alex Muller.

Not to be overlooked were the battles put forth by Cranford wrestlers Michael Tona, Evan Surmay, Jordan Chapman, Connor Hoefling and Will Kahney all of whom avoided getting pinned by the top South Plainfield wrestler that they were matched up against saving pivotal team points.

Additional wrestlers on the CJA team are Mikey Daly, Marcus Nock, Joseph Acinapura, Lucas Esposito, Dylan McDonald and Mathew Surmay.
