CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford Township has installed a Project Medicine Drop Box in support of the Attorney General’s “Project Medicine Drop” initiative. The box is located in the Municipal Building next to the Police Records Bureau.

Project Medicine Drop aims to prevent the abuse of prescription drugs by allowing members of the public to drop off any unused medications anonymously.

“The installation of the Project Medicine Drop Box makes it easier and more convenient for the members of our community to take an active role in the fight against opiate and heroin abuse, which often begins with the abuse of prescription drugs,” Cranford Police Chief James Wozniak said in a press release sent by the CPD.

Residents are encouraged to drop off their unused, excess or expired prescriptions in the box, which additionally protects the environment by keeping drugs out of landfills and water supplies. More information about Project Medicine Drop can be read here.
