Cranford Police Arrest Two in Connection with String of Motor Vehicle Burglaries

CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford police arrested two Linden men in connection with a string of motor vehicle burglaries that recently occurred in town.

At 4:09 a.m. on June 6, officers Shayne Temple and Michael O’Neil arrested Kyle McCall and Joshua Carter, both 21, after receiving a report of suspicious activity near Tulip Street and Spring Garden Street. The pair were found by police on Greaves Place, according to a press release sent by Detective Sergeant Ryan Greco of the Cranford Police Department.

During an on-scene investigation, it was revealed that both men had stolen property from one of the burglaries. McCall and Carter were arrested, processed and released on summonses, according to the press release.

“Detective Thomas Stiansen conducted a subsequent follow-up investigation, and linked McCall and Carter to two additional motor vehicle burglaries on Hampton Street and Maple Place,” Greco wrote in the release.

McCall was charged with two counts of burglary, theft, theft of a credit card, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of paraphernalia. Carter was charged with two counts of burglary, theft, theft of a credit card and receiving stolen property, according to the press release.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Union County Superior Court later this month, according to the press release.
