Arrested: Owen Johnson, 35, South Amboy

Arrested by: Ptl. Gregory Federici

Charges: Possession of Marijuana (Under 5og); Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2008 Ford was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and the Garden State Parkway 136 exchange for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Federici arrested a passenger in the vehicle, Owen Johnson, for suspected marijuana found inside the vehicle. He was processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance date. Additionally, he was issued a motor vehicle summons for a seatbelt violation.

North Avenue East and the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange

Arrested: Rasheem McQueen, 18, Plainfield; Jaquan Johnson, 24, Conyers GA

Arrested by: Ptl. Ryan Gerrity

Charges: Criminal Attempt; Hindering Apprehension; Disorderly Person; Resisting Arrest; Possession of Marijuana (under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 1994 Oldsmobile was stopped for an improper turn on North Avenue East at the Garden State Parkway 137 exchange. Ptl. Gerrity was speaking with a passenger, Jaquan Johnson, curbside when he ran away from the police. After crossing both northbound and southbound lanes on the GSP, Johnson eluded police in the neighborhood adjacent to the Garden State Parkway 137 exit ramps. A perimeter was quickly established and through the use of two Union County Sheriff’s K-9 units, the suspect was located hiding near the area of the Parkway Village Complex. Jaquan Johnson was charged with criminal attempt, hindering apprehension, disorderly person, and resisting arrest. He was processed and provided with a Superior Court appearance date. The driver, Rasheem McQueen, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was arrested, processed and released pending a court appearance. Additionally, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for an improper turn, tinted windows, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
