Cranford Police Blotter: Multiple Drug Arrests & More

1.  05/23/2017 @ 12:17 p.m.

E. North Avenue @ GSP 137 NB

Arrested: Jonathan Liebowitz, 28, Spotswood

Arrested by:  Ptl. Joseph Sherbo

Charges:  Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe; Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks:  A 2009 Toyota was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue @ GSP 137 SB Ramp for a seatbelt violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Sherbo located a hypodermic syringe and a glass pipe, commonly used to inhale narcotics, inside the vehicle.  The driver, Jonathan Liebowitz, was arrested, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Liebowitz was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.

 

2.  05/23/2017 @ 1:29 p.m.

GSP 136 Southbound

Arrested: Guy Knapp, 27, Matawan

Arrested: Dinessa Gehring, 24, Parlin

Arrested by: Ptl. Michael Dubitsky

Charges:  Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Heroin); Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe; Possession of Paraphernalia; Contempt of Court

Remarks:  A 2006 Dodge was stopped Southbound on the Garden State Parkway for a lane violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Dubitsky located multiple hypodermic syringes inside the vehicle.  While placing the driver, Guy Knapp, under arrest, it was determined that he was in possession of heroin.  The passenger, Dinessa Gehring, was placed under arrest for an active warrant.  While being taken into to custody, it was determined that Gehring was also in possession of heroin.  Both Gehring and Knapp were processed at Cranford Police Headquarters, and given Superior Court appearances.  Knapp was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, careless driving, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

E. North Avenue @ GSP 137 SB Ramp

Arrested: Sir Blanks, 22, Rahway

Arrested by: Ptl. Robert Jordan

Charges: Obstructing Administration of Law; Hindering Apprehension

Remarks:  A 2010 Mitsubishi was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue @ the GSP 137 NB Ramp for a seatbelt violation.  While on scene, a passenger, Sir Blanks, began ingesting raw marijuana.  

Ptl. Jordan instructed Blanks to spit the marijuana out, but Blanks failed to comply.  Blanks was arrested, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Banks was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.  The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for delaying traffic.

Raritan Road @ Mohican Place

Arrested: Henry Valderrama, 19, Linden

Arrested by: Ptl. Ali Muhammad

Charges: Possession of  Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2007 Volkswagen was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road @ Mohican Place for a seatbelt violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Muhammad located marijuana inside the vehicle.  The driver, Henry Valderrama, was arrested, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance.  Valderrama and a passenger were issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to wear a seatbelt.

 

5.  05/24/2017 @ 7:30 p.m.

E. North Avenue @ GSP 137 NB Ramp

Arrested: Donald Hill, 37, East Orange

Arrested by: Ptl. Jason D’Agostino

Charges: Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2000 Honda was stopped at the intersection of East North Avenue @ GSP 137 NB for a seatbelt violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. D’Agostino located marijuana inside the vehicle.  A passenger, Donald Hill, was arrested, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Hill was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.

 

6.  05/24/2017 @ 7:57 p.m.

GSP 136 SB Ramp @ Raritan Road

Arrested: Daniel Marrero, 43, Jersey City

Arrested by: Ptl. Ryan Gerrity

Charges: Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine); Possession of Paraphernalia; Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe

Remarks: A 2000 Buick was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road @ GSP 136 SB Ramp for an equipment violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Gerrity located crack cocaine and a hypodermic syringe inside the vehicle.  A passenger, Daniel Marrero, was arrested, processed, and released pending a Superior Court appearance.  The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lamps and failure to exhibit documents.


 

7.  05/26/2017 @ 7:05 p.m.

E. North Avenue @ Garden State Parkway 137 NB

Arrested: Ruben Maldonado, 27, Easton, PA

Arrested by: Ptl. Jason D’Agostino

Charges:  Possession of a Prescription Analog(Tramadol); Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2007 Cadillac was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue @ the GSP 137 NB ramp for a seat belt violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. D’Agostino located Tramadol inside the vehicle.  The driver, Ruben Maldonado, was arrested, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Maldonado was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt and possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside a vehicle.  
 

 

8.  05/27/2017 @ 5:44 p.m.

Arlington Road

Arrested: Matthew DiMarco, 29, Cranford

Arrested by: Ptl. John Rattigan

Charges: Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Heroin); Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe; Possession of Paraphernalia; Contempt of Court

Remarks:  Patrol Units responded to Arlington Road on a report of a suspicious person.  Ptl. Rattigan located the individual, Matthew DiMarco, sitting on a retaining wall of an Arlington Road residence. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Rattigan located heroin and a hypodermic syringe on DiMarco.  Furthermore, it was discovered that DiMarco had numerous arrest warrants out of Essex and Union Counties.  DiMarco was arrested, and released pending a Superior Court appearance.  DiMarco was ROR’d on his active warrants.

Raritan Road @ Centennial Avenue

Arrested: Danielle Davidson, 34, Linden

Arrested by:  Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated; Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance

Remarks: A 2016 Mazda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road @ Centennial Avenue for a traffic signal violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Donnerstag determined that the driver, Danielle Davidson, was driving while intoxicated.  Davidson was arrested, processed, and released to a friend pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Davidson was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to stop at a red light, and driving while intoxicated.

Spring Art Show Displays Students' Creativity

CRANFORD - The Cranford High School Spring Art Show was held at the Cranford Public Library, on Tuesday. 

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., artwork from classes such as crafts, graphic design, photography, and drawing was on display for the public to promote the creative and unique projects done by students throughout the school year.
