CRANFORD, NJ – The 2015 eighth grade class of Saint Michael School celebrated its graduation, on Friday, June 5. The day began with the tradition of the Baccalaureate Mass, followed by the annual breakfast given by the seventh grade and commenced with the official graduation ceremony in the evening.

The graduation ceremony included an address to the graduates by Dr. Margaret A. Dames, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools, Archdiocese of Newark, principal of St. Michael School, Sandy Miragliotta referred to Dames’ speech as “very motivational and inspiring.” 

The graduates were then presented with diplomas and awards, for both academics and service, by Pastor, Msgr. Timothy Shugrue, with the help of Peggy McGauran and Barbara Grossi, the eighth grade teachers.

Class valedictorian, Claire Shubeck, addressed her classmates and reflected on her road to graduation day. Shubeck, encouraged her fellow graduates to, “stay true to yourself and be the best you can be.”

The Class of 2015 concluded the ceremony the way they concluded their kindergarten ceremony, by reciting the “Irish Blessing”, in tribute to Mrs. Aslanian, their kindergarten teacher who passed away several years ago.
