CRANFORD, NJ – Following a fire on Nov. 3 in the residence above Simply Art & Framing, a Cranford teen has started a GoFundMe to raise money for her best friend and mother, who live in the home.
Although the mother and daughter were not home at the time of the fire, their apartment and possessions were severely damaged, according to the GoFundMe page started by Geena Anderson.
“The smoke traveled throughout the house to the point where all their furniture needed to be thrown out,” Anderson wrote on the page. “Most of their clothes are gone, along with toiletries, and it will probably take weeks or months to renovate the house. Along with replacing furniture and clothes, they do not have the money to pay for a possible new apartment or for the renovations of their apartment. Both she and her mother are starting all over with what they have left.”
Anderson set a goal of $3,000 for the page. To date, more than $1,200 has been raised.
