CRANFORD - A memorial to remember and honor the lives lost to COVID-19 in cities and towns across the country will be held on Tuesday, January 19 at 5:30 p.m.

The Washington, D.C. ceremony will feature a lighting around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The Joe Biden Presidential Inaugural Committee invited cities and towns across the nation to participate in the ceremony by illuminating buildings and ringing church bells at 5:30 p.m.

Cranford will illuminate the tree (Cranford Christmas Tree) in the Cranford Gazebo Plaza, located at the corner of Springfield Avenue and North Union Avenue, with white lights as the township shows solidarity in the fight against COVID-19 and remembers those who have died from the disease. Cranford has lost 103 residents (84 living in long-term care facilities, 19 living in the community) to the novel coronavirus.

Residents are invited to join in this memorial by lighting a candle in their window or turning on lights on their front porch.
