CRANFORD, NJ – The Cranford Township Committee approved its capital budget of $4,565,500 at Tuesday night’s meeting.

According to commissioner Patrick Giblin, the budget includes nearly $1 million for a grant application to expand the children’s area at the Cranford Public Library, funds to upgrade the playgrounds at Adams, Buchanan and Johnson Parks, a new fire truck and funding for TV 35.

“This ordinance puts in place the funding for all of our capital improvement projects, which are our much needed road improvements and projects that help to provide our different departments in the town the equipment they need to get their job done,” Commissioner Mary O’Connor said.

At the April 25 meeting, O’Connor noted that the total sum of the budget includes funds the township receives from grants. The actual borrowed amount is $3,619,000, she said.
