CRANFORD, NJ – The Cranford Township Committee introduced an ordinance to approve the capital budget of $4,565,500 at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The budget includes a new fire truck and additional technology, motor vehicles and equipment for various departments.
According to commissioner Mary O’Connor, the total sum includes funds the township receives from grants, noting that the money used to pay the bond down is included in the operating budget.
“This is the aggregate sum,” O’Connor said. “It includes any grants that we get. The actual amount that we borrow is $3,619,000 which has been fairly consistent with what we’ve borrowed over the past five years to keep the road repaving program going and make sure the other departments get what they need.”
A public hearing for the budget will be held on May 22, 2018, at which time the committee will put the budget to final vote.
