CRANFORD, NJ - The Cranford baseball team defeated Linden, 12-0, in the opening round of the Union County Tournament at their new turf field on Saturday.

The Cougars worked together to score their victory, with Matthew Perino, Tom Armstrong, Patrick Connelly and Brian Oblachinski all scoring two runs. Armstrong led the team with five RBI.

Tommy Ronan drove in three runs and scored one run, Michael McGee had one run and one RBI and Perino had an RBI as well. James Shriner and Tyle Szczech each scored a run.

The Cougars advanced to the quarterfinals on Wednesday and will face Elizabeth in a home game at Memorial Field. They’ll also face Union Catholic on Tuesday at Memorial Field at 4 p.m.
