ELIZABETH, NJ - The Cranford varsity baseball team narrowly fell to Elizabeth, 3-2, in the season opener at Williams Field.

Cranford took an early lead, with senior Brian Oblachinski and sophomore James Shriner scoring runs for the team. Elizabeth tied the game in the fifth inning and claimed the victory following a sixth-inning home run by senior Sean Downey, according to the Cranford Baseball Twitter account.

Cranford’s opening game was originally scheduled against Elizabeth on April 1, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday at 4 p.m., when they visit Westfield at Edison Intermediate School.
