CRANFORD, NJ - On Sunday, March 15, the Cranford eighth grade boys’ basketball team capped off their season, and PAL career’s, with a, 55-44, victory over Morristown to win the Garden State League Championship.
The win capped off an impressive streak for the team, who started the year, 1-2. The boys went on to win ten of their next twelve league games, and finished the season off with three straight victories in the playoffs. The key to the team’s success was a relentless man-to-man defense.
In the final game, Cranford led by four at the half and put the game away with a big-run to open the second half. The boys carrried a double-digit lead into the final quarter. The team shot better than 80 percent from the free throw line in each of their playoff wins to seal victories. Cindy Carracino said, "We are very proud of the boys progress over the last five years. It is a great way to end their PAL careers."
