CRANFORD - Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the traditional Memorial Day parade and ceremony held in Cranford has been canceled.

However, a small private ceremony will be aired on TV35 with the Color Guard of VFW Post 335, Chaplain Jim Silkenson, and Mayor Patrick Giblin reading the names. The ceremony will also be live-streamed on the TV35 Facebook page

Representatives of the Cranford Police and Fire Departments will place a wreath at the monument in Memorial Park, and Mayor Giblin will toss a wreath into the Rahway River to honor those lost at sea.

Also, Don Sweeney will hang the Cranford 86 banners at Memorial Park, and at 10 a.m., Girl Scouts throughout town will step outside their homes to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing God Bless America.
