SCOTCH PLAINS - Dennis DeMarino rushed two touchdowns as Cranford defeated Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 42-7, on Saturday afternoon at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. 

The Cougars finished the afternoon with four rushing TDs. DeMarino scored on runs of one and 12 yards. Quarterback Connor Katz broke off a 30-yard TD run and Marcus Johnson added two-yard score. 

On the opening drive, Katz connected with Tom Korzeneski on a 37-yard TD pass. Cranford would immediately get the ball back as Cole Blazek nabbed an interception on the first play of the Raiders' first offensive series, which set up DeMarino's one-yard score.

Cranford's defense would again flex its muscle as Evan Kanterman scooped and scored a backward pass for a 15-yard fumble recovery TD on Scotch Plains-Fanwood's third offensive snap. 

The Cougars will return home this Friday when they take on Somerville (3-0), No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20 Ranking, at 7 p.m. Cranford fell to Somerville 50-7 last season.
