In 2008, then deputy mayor David Robinson spearheaded the effort to build the turf field on the site of Memorial Field at no cost to Cranford taxpayers. The Jaycees, along with other local groups, pledged funds to pay off the field within ten years of its construction. The Cranford Athletic Turf (CAT) Fund was then able to secure a bond to build the field.

To support the fund, the Jaycees will host a fundraiser event on Sunday, January 18, 2015, from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at The Cranford Hotel (Cellar Grill). For a $30 donation, attendees will receive a hamburger and refreshments until 6pm.

The event coincides with the NFL playoffs, so attendees can enjoy the games while supporting a good cause. During the AFC championship game there will be a 50/50 raffle, box pools available, raffles for sports memorabilia, tickets, apparel and more.
