Dear Cranford Neighbor,

This Tuesday we once again have the chance to make sure Cranford has a bright and positive future. Over the past few weeks, we’ve learned the priorities of the Cranford candidates and listened to their thoughts at the debate.  It was obvious during the debate that Commissioner Mary O’Connor has a clear understanding of the issues facing Cranford and the solid experience we need moving forward. Phil Siliato brings a new perspective and corporate management experience that compliments the role of Township Commissioner. I am honored to support and endorse Mary O’Connor and Phil Siliato for Cranford Township Committee.

Commissioner O’Connor points to the state of our roads as a wakeup call that Cranford needs to get back to an engineering program that makes sense and gets the work done. She has recommended an approach that combines local engineering oversight for our residential and commercial concerns, and experienced outside resources for our road, flood and infrastructure projects.

Mr. Siliato sees high density residential development as one of the greatest issues facing our town. People are moving away from the urban environments of Hoboken and Manhattan and the appeal of Cranford as a vibrant small town is clear. We need strong leadership in Cranford to take a stand against the failed high density policies of Trenton. One of the dangers of a 5-0 Democratic majority means there will be no one on the Township Committee willing to take that stand.

Mary O’Connor brings six years’ experience as a Township Commissioner and nine years’ experience on the Cranford Planning Board. That knowledge and expertise is critical to understanding the complexities of every issue facing Cranford. Phil Siliato has been an active community volunteer for many years and will bring a new voice and perspective. This is a team that will put residents first, listen to their concerns and work with our Municipal employees to make Cranford the best it can be. Mary and Phil have been endorsed by the state and local FMBA because of their strong support for public safety.

Mary O’Connor and Phil Siliato understand the role of the Township Committee and are committed to leading the town in the right direction. When you go to the polls on Tuesday, vote for Mary O’Connor and Phil Siliato for Township Committee. Cranford First!

Sincerely,

Andis Kalnins

Mayor, Township of Cranford
