Thanks to all the volunteers that made Cranford Family Weekend another great success. Families enjoyed a fun outdoor movie at the Hanson Park Conservancy, a police escorted bike tour led by Hilltop Bicycles, a canoe ride at the Canoe Club, a uniquely Cranford experience, Outdoor Yoga back at Hanson Park and a walking tour sponsored by the Historic Preservation Advisory Board. All ending with our town-wide BBQ celebrating family dinners.
Family dinners are the number one prevention tactic to keeping teens alcohol free. With the dependency epidemic predicted to spread to 1 in 5 Americans, it’s more critical than ever that we work together to prevent teen alcohol use. Parents who serve or condone are contributing to the national crisis. Helping a teen build a tolerance to alcohol opens a gateway to future addictions. It’s more important than ever that we work together to stop parents who serve. Teach your kids to resist and stand-up to parents who provide alcohol.
There are so many people to thank for the success of the weekend, but it all starts with you. The people of Cranford create an atmosphere of cooperation, collaboration and support for each other and our children. The Cranford Police, Fire and DPW, our finest, bravest and strongest were at the heart of the efforts this weekend. The Town Council and all the volunteers of the Cranford Municipal Alliance, Hanson Park Conservancy and the Historic Preservation Advisory Board made the weekend possible.
My sincere thanks to all and my sincere wish that it helps all children grow up reaching their full potential, free from alcohol and drugs.
Chairperson, Cranford Municipal Alliance
