WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield resident James Flynn, who was reported missing Wednesday night, was found safe and is now with family, Westfield police announced Friday morning. Flynn, 75, suffers dementia.
Flynn was reported missing from his home on the 400 block of West Broad Street by his daughter, who spoke with him at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and planned to meet him at his residence. When she arrived he was missing and had not been heard from since, according to police.
Through their investigation, Westfield police discovered that Flynn was in Philadelphia, where he had checked into an area hotel using his credit card. Once his location was confirmed the Philadelphia police were contacted and responded to take Flynn into their custody, Westfield police said.
Flynn appeared to be in good health, though disoriented, according to police. He has been transferred to the care of a family member.
The Westfield Police Department thanked the public for their assistance.
