Mother's Center of Central NJ Announces 7th Annual "Miles with Moms" 5k

CRANFORD, NJ – For the seventh consecutive year, the Mother’s Center of Central NJ will host a “Miles with Moms” 5k and one-mile fun run.

The run raises funds for the center, which seeks to provide a community of support and empowerment for local moms, according to the center’s website.

“To raise funds for the center, we used to sell gently used children's clothing, toys and gear, but with the implementation of online sites for this purpose, we switched to hosting the 5k run,” Melissa Bernstein, 5k fundraising planning committee member, said. “Since then we have held the 5k every year to fundraise for the center and we hope to make each run bigger than the next.”

This year’s run will feature a DJ, raffle and kid activities from Tinkergarten and Creative Kids, according to a press release from the center.

“One of our goals for the run is to bring local families together for a fun 5k event while further establishing our presence in the community,” Bernstein said.

According to the press release, the 5k will be chip-timed and awards will be given to the registered top finishers in the following five categories: Top Male Adult/Teen overall, Top Female Adult/Teen overall, Top 5K Child, Top Adult pushing a child, and Top MCCNJ Member/Alumni. A participation award will be given to all registered participants of the fun run.

The run will be held on May 6 at Nomahegan Park at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is available now, with a reduced fee of $20 per adult or teen runner and a fee of $12 for children ages 12 and younger.

The kids’ fun run for ages six and under is free. Registration fees are non-refundable and discounts are available for two or more registrants that sign up at the same time, according to the press release.

“We would like to see the biggest turn out we have ever had at this walk since we switched locations to Nomahegan park, where we can enjoy the company of more families and runners,” Bernstein said.
