CRANFORD - If you are walking through the downtown, take a stroll down Alden Street to see the newest artwork in Downtown Cranford.
The Cranford DMC held a contest to design the electrical box at the corner of North Union Avenue and Alden Street in front of Emma's Brick Oven Pizza, and after more that 30 submissions from local artists, Cranford resident Heather Walano's painting of Nomahegan Park was selected as the winner.
The electrical box was covered in a vinyl wrap of Walano's painting and it is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future. This is not the first time Walano's artwork has been featured in Cranford. Walano designed a mural in Calabria Pizza on Centennial Avenue and also is responsible for the flower painting above Simply...Art & Framing.
"I was very honored to be chosen," said Walano. "I've been painting my whole life. I did interior design and had my own company for over 20 years, but when my oldest one left for college, I just started painting."
