CRANFORD - Agave Mexican Restaurant, located at 117 North Union Avenue (formerly Lidia's Cuban Kitchen), officially opened for business this past Tuesday.
The Mexican restaurant is owned by Jose Villanueva who has been in the restaurant industry for 15 years. He was born in Mexico City and wanted to open a restaurant that serves traditional Mexican dishes from the northern and southern parts of Mexico.
"We make all our tortillas from scratch using real organic corn," said Villanueva. "All our salsas are homemade, and we'll be focusing on the seafood of Mexico, which most people don't know about, along with steaks."
Agave will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with weekend brunch. While Agave does not have a liquor license, Villanueva says customers are welcome to bring their own tequila and the restaurant will make you a margarita or drink of your choice.
While their website is not live yet, you can learn more about Agave on their Facebook page.
